What does Qantas look for from its Cabin Crew?
Qantas looks for applicants who can work effectively as part of a team while adapting to various situations with warmth and professionalism. Above all, safety is our top priority, and we ensure all crew members receive thorough training in aircraft safety and security procedures. We value candidates who demonstrate a genuine approach to customer service and an appreciation for cultural diversity, as these qualities help in providing exceptional support to all passengers. This includes assisting children traveling alone, nervous flyers, and non-English speakers with care and empathy.
In addition to excellent interpersonal skills, language proficiency is an important asset. Applicants who are fluent in at least one of the following priority languages—Cantonese, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai, or Vietnamese—will have a distinct advantage, especially for international cabin crew positions. These language skills play a crucial role in delivering both service and safety information to passengers, enhancing their travel experience and ensuring clear communication during critical situations.
