General:
Air NZ values hiring pilots that fit the role and contribute to the community and family values of the Airline. All the candidates are there to get hired and Air NZ is trying to hire everyone there. Be friendly and chat/ share your experience including none flying with the people around you. Every assessment will have someone asking you questions so be on guard the whole time and try your best. They want you to meet, share experiences and come out of the assessment having made friends, and future course mates having all got the job.
Every time you go to do a different assessment you will be under review; they are asking questions from beginning to end making sure your answers and motivations align. Why Air NZ? where do you want to be based, and where do you want to fly?
Attire:
Suit with tie, ironed shirt.
What to bring: They will have a checklist for you, your license, log books, medical, forms, and snacks if required, they provide snacks and lunch. The days are long and sometimes you will have a lot of time between assessments when you will be able to get a coffee, have a snack and chat with the other candidates.
Transport to assessment center:
Plan on a Uber/taxi or get a hire car. Taxis and Ubers can be a hassle to get during certain times of the day in AKL. When bad weather is forecast be prepared for long waits and delays with taxis, the bridge from AKL city center to the airport closes when winds are too high. If flying in specially for the interview consider staying airport side (uber surcharge for airport), possible to walk.
