Is American Airlines a good company to work for?

Working as a pilot for American Airlines in 2023 has been an exhilarating journey. American Airlines Pilot Recruitment Process-2024

A general outline of what the recruitment process might entail for pilots applying to American Airlines in 2023:

To apply for AA go to their application website pilots.aa.com and submit the online application according to step one below.

  1. Online Application: Candidates submit an online application through the American Airlines careers website. This application typically includes personal information, pilot certifications, flight hours, and relevant qualifications.

  2. American PST: Pilot Skills Test online: Once completed can be issued a interview hours after or some applicants have been waiting up to 3 weeks. If selected for an interview you will get an email however if not you will not hear back. If you do not hear back email support and they will help confirm and send you in the right direction for the American application. You will have a set time to complete the online testing that will be sent to you after you submit your application.

  3. Virtual Zoom Meeting: No curve balls, Took about 20-30 minutes, tell them my FTN, why American? What makes the company inclusive?, Tell us about yourself, and a scenario-based question: LAX- Philly, 2 hours in, pressurization malfunction requiring a decent down to Fl100, after I just confirmed that I understood what paperwork was required. They also went through my application and submitted documents and let me know if I needed to update or submit anything else

    Everything on site was accurate and a great study guide. Mark really helped with my interview and answer preparation. Below are the questions and situations asked:

    "TMAAT you were task saturated - you had a disagreement with a co-worker

    Situational: - 30 minutes into the flight from SFO to PHL and you have a malfunction that requires you to shut down left engine. - At the gate and passenger says she has severe anxiety about flying - You’re the captain and you and the FO are going into a challenging airport that neither of you have ever flown into before."
